Admirable character traits of Disney Princesses(part 2)

The next character in my series on Disney princesses and their character traits is Cinderella.

Like Snow White, Cinderella was also the victim of a death in her family which lead to a jealous step-mother treating her in an abusive manner.  While Cinderella’s step-mother didn’t plan to have her killed, she did do everything in her power to make Cinderella’s life miserable.  Cinderella does have a number of admirable traits of genuine femininity:
  1. Never complaining– she never complained even though she was often dealt unfair cards, and had the people closest to her making her life miserable.
  2. Modest – during the day she was considered a plain women, she wasn’t vain about her appearance, even though she was beautiful, and even when she was given the beautiful gown by her fairy godmother she still kept that modesty.  She didn’t need expensive jewels to make herself look beautiful, the simple dress and her personality was everything she needed to wow the prince.
  3. Forgiving – at the end of the movie, she forgave the people who had wronged her in her life.  This, I feel, is her most admirable trait.
  4. A Servants Heart - she had a heart of service just as God commands us to have with others.  She was always willing to serve even the people who were nasty to her. (Added after Christephi's Comment - Thank you!)
I have mentioned three traits of Cinderella that are worth practicing.  Can you think of any more?  Post them in a comment below!

  1. I've heard people complain that Cinderella allowed herself to be trampled on by her step-mother and step-sisters, that she should have stood up for herself and not taken their orders. However, I have always admired her cheerful attitude and willing spirit. She worked hard even under less than ideal circumstances and did not complain. She also had a "make-do" attitude: just see how she re-made her mother's old dress! Plus, I love her tender heart toward all living creatures, even the mean old cat! We all have things in our lives that give us the "right" to complain. We are all faced with unpleasant people and situations. It's not up to us to "stand our ground" and refuse to serve them. Instead we should make the best of the hand we're dealt and develop an inner beauty! Thanks for sharing this!

  2. Ashleigh, I saw a link to your blog from a friend of mine on facebook. I just read both your "Character traits of a Gentlemen" and your Disney Princess Series" I enjoyed reading both, and am printing them so I can post the Gentlemen one in my 4 year old son's room, and the Princess one in my 7 year old daughter's room. Cinderella is my daughter's favorite of the Princesses, that is why I chose to comment here. I also love Cinderella's servant's spirit. I loved reading your posts, and look forward to reading any updates you may have in the future. Keep up the wonderful writing.
